"Kate makes each session fun and engaging and my daughter genuinely looks forward to going. She has a lovely way of explaining things so they're easy to understand and it's really helped to build my daughter's confidence. Would highly recommend!"

Our Mission

At Knowledge Nest, we are dedicated to fostering a lifelong love of learning and empowering all our learners to succeed! Our mission is to provide high-quality educational tuition, along with social and emotional support and guidance, to build confident, happy children who succeed in their goals.

We are based at The Tannery in Northowram in Halifax. Our Knowledge Nest is the perfect quiet, calm and positive learning space. We opened in February 2026 and visitors are welcome! If you would like to come and see our space, please drop us an email to kate@knowledge-nest.co.uk

Enquiries are now being taken for new starters, we have some availability for group and 1:1 tuition immediately and for September 2026.

Who we are

Hello! I'm Kate, founder of Knowledge Nest. I have lived and taught in Calderdale since 2009, having previously taught in the Yorkshire Dales, York and Leeds.

I am an experienced and current primary school teacher and leader and I love helping all children to learn and succeed -whether that be in 11+, SATs or their own personal goals.

I am passionate about inclusion, having undertaken recent training in SEND, Early Years Foundation Stage, sensory processing, trauma-informed approaches and confidence and wellbeing. I am trained as a Designated Safeguarding Lead for Calderdale and hold a full DBS. I am also paediatric first aid trained.

I LOVE reading and helping children find the books that spark this joy for them.

I have lived locally since 2017 and with our son we have embraced village life - attending Toddlers at St Matthews Church every week, visiting the library and enjoying all the village events from Scarecrows to Christmas! My husband also runs with Northowram Pumas.

When the opportunity came up for the perfect space in the village for Knowledge Nest, it felt like a sign! I am looking forward to working with you all to support your children.

Thanks, Kate

Personalised Learning

Personalised Learning

Our learning programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each child. As experienced teachers, we use resources that children are already familiar with and which will compliment their current learning in school, for example with Phonics, the Multiplication Check, 11+ and SATS. We can tailor our approach to support pupils working towards the Expected Standard or who are aiming for Greater Depth or the 11+ exams.
We can also offer personalised learning tuition, bespoke to the needs of the child and following their interests. In addition we offer individualised support for confidence and wellbeing.

We are trained in sensory processing, SEND and Adverse Childhood Experiences and are happy to work with your child's school, Local Authority SEND team or other specialists for a joined-up approach. Where a child has an EHCP and requires Education Other Than At School (EOTAS) we can offer bespoke education and work with you and the council to look at the funding for this.
