Home Education Small Groups
Our Home Education small group classes are designed specifically for home-educated children and are designed to provide flexible and gently structured learning. Our approach focuses on building strong foundations while allowing children to learn at their own pace with a mix of play-based, enquiry led and, as children are ready, structured learning in core skills of English and maths.
Our small group sessions also provide valuable opportunities for children to socialise with other children and build their confidence and skills working collaboratively together.
What Is Home Education?
Home Education, also known as Elective Home Education (EHE), is the choice to educate a child outside of a formal school setting. Under Section 7 of the Education Act 1996, parents are legally responsible for ensuring their child receives a full time education that is suitable for their age, ability and any special educational needs. Home Education does not need to follow the National Curriculum. Families can create a personalised approach using tutors, learning centres, online resources, libraries and home-based learning. What matters is that education is efficient, appropriate and safe, while meeting the individual needs of the child.
Why Families Choose Home Education
Families choose home education for many reasons, including:
✓ Choosing a different educational route that better suits their child and family life
✓ A preference for smaller groups and a more personalised approach
✓ When school has been tried and, for various reasons, has not been the right fit
✓ Unmet special educational needs in mainstream settings
✓ Bullying, sensory overload or rigid school routines
✓ A desire for a more flexible, child led or holistic approach
✓ Temporary time out of school due to illness or family circumstances
Personalised Learning
For children who would benefit from some additional 1:1 focused support, we can also support with a personalised offer. We would discuss your requirements and how best this would work for you child - 30 mins or 1 hour and small group or 1:1 tuition or coaching.
This can be personalised to your child's needs and goals.
